Henri Sigfridsson is one of Finland’s leading pianists, active throughout Europe as a soloist and chamber musician.
He has performed as a soloist with major orchestras around the world, including the MDR Symphony Orchestra, the Staatskapelle Weimar, the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra, and the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra. He has collaborated with many renowned conductors, such as Vladimir Ashkenazy, Sir Neville Marriner, and Alexander Lazarev.
He is a recipient of numerous prestigious awards, including First Prize, the Audience Prize, and the Chamber Music Prize at the Beethoven International Piano Competition in Bonn; Second Prize and the Audience Prize at the Geza Anda International Piano Competition in Zurich; First Prize at both the International Franz Liszt Piano Competition in Weimar and the Nordic Soloist Competition; and Second Prize at the Maria Callas Competition in Athens.
Sigfridsson has performed at prestigious venues such as the Vienna Musikverein and has been invited to major festivals including the Salzburg Festival, the Lucerne Festival, and Gstaad Menuhin Festival. As a chamber musician, he has appeared with world-class artists such as Gidon Kremer, Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Sol Gabetta, and Boris Berezovsky.
His discography includes recordings of concertos by Rachmaninov and F.X. Mozart, as well as works by Sibelius and Selim Palmgren.
Sigfridsson studied under Erik T. Tawaststjerna, Pavel Gililov, and Lazar Berman. He currently serves as Professor of Piano at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen and teaches masterclasses internationally. In recent years, he has also pursued conducting, appearing with orchestras in Finland, Central Europe, South Korea, and Japan.
