SAKO Akiyoshi

Awarded the Kreutzer Prize at the Graduate School of Music, Tokyo University of the Arts. Completed the Meisterklasse at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. Achieved the highest ranking at the Geneva International Music Competition, won the Min-On Chamber Music Competition, the Jaén International Piano Competition, and the Spanish Music Prize (1984), as well as the ABC International Music Award.

Since his debut, he has been recognized as a pianist with an elegant tone and high transparency in lyricism. He has performed solo and with orchestras both in Japan and internationally. As a chamber musician, he has collaborated with leading musicians worldwide, earning high acclaim and trust.

In recent years, in addition to his career as a pianist, he has also made remarkable strides as a conductor. Since his conducting debut in 1999, he has appeared with various orchestras in Japan, and his future activities are highly anticipated.

He is an Emeritus Professor at Tokyo University of the Arts, a Specially Appointed Professor at Tokyo College of Music, and a Visiting Professor at Senzoku Gakuen College of Music.
